President’s Message

Dear Highlander Families,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! We are a community that values learning and supporting one another, and we invest in promoting and maximizing our children’s potential. The McLean PTSA works closely with the school administration and staff to support the curriculum and provide programs that positively impact the educational and social-emotional growth of MHS students. Your involvement as parents plays a vital role in fostering life-long learning and community service aligned with your interests, strengths and needs as there are so many ways you can participate in.

Empower Students and Families: We strive to engage the McLean community in a supportive and collaborative learning environment by offering programming that educates and empowers students and families. We support various clubs and activities to make them meaningful to the students. Your PTSA membership and tax-deductible donation translate directly to academic enhancements and programs that help promote student welfare, enrich classroom environment, support extracurricular activities, and encourage social-emotional well-being. We integrate real-world practical experiences into our programs and encourage student participation to make the high school journey even more memorable and meaningful. We collaborate with students on innovative learning, and health and wellness programs along with staff appreciation and parent education events. There will be opportunities to earn service hours while working with the PTSA!

Stay Connected and Informed: We are facilitating educational and social connections between families, school, and community resources to strengthen the bridge between home and school life. Plan to attend the PTSA General Membership meetings and hear the latest from Dr. Ellen Reilly and the McLean staff. Join our virtual parent coffees to discuss important issues, and have your questions answered. Our Wednesday weekly newsletter provides up to date information on MHS events, relevant parent resources, and student activities. Stay connected and informed by visiting our website and subscribing to McLean eNews.

Be Engaged: We rely on you to donate and volunteer to make a real difference. Your participation in the PTSA will get you engaged in our school community, give you a voice and benefit your child’s high school experience. Learn how you can volunteer.

Please know that none of this would be possible without your participation. I am looking forward to working with you to make this a great school year!

Best Regards,

Elizabeth El-Nattar, President
